Raids in preparation |
After the success of the 5th raid Aubanel, which brought together 400 competitors, our team is already working on preparations for the 6th edition, which should take place Sunday, April 26, 2009. Meanwhile, we remain hopeful that we will one day be possible to reactivate the Raid on Lez, we have put on stand by after the 9th version in October 2003. Contacts are being made with various officials of local clubs, concerned by the activities directly related to Lez and the overall situation is always the same: everyone who participated, attended or worked at the original dream of Raid see reborn!

First day :
Meet at the canoës d’Aubanel base at a prearranged time. Shaded parking. This is where you will spend the night after your first days descent. You will then be briefed and equipped prior to being transferred to your departure point for the 14 km descent using a two person canoe with single paddles.
The descent takes about 3.5 hours without breaks. The descent has many accessible river banks to picnic and swim from. Evening and overnight bivouac at the base on two hectors of meadows bordering the river (showers, toilets, water, electricity, tables, benches and BBQ available).
Possibility to rent tents and inflatable mattresses.
Second day: Choose between:
- A 12 km descent on the lower part of the river, approximately three hours on the water. This part of the Hérault is wilder than the higher part with steep banks but fewer rapids. There is no road access for 12 km so once you start you can't change your mind.
- Same descent as day one but everyone is equipped with a single kayak with double paddles. The sensations are really different allowing you to discover the river from another perspective.
